** 解説 [#Explanation]

[[木の鬚]]が[[エント女]]について[[メリアドク・ブランディバック]]と[[ペレグリン・トゥック]]に話した時に言及した歌。[[エント]]とエント女の別離と再会の望みを掛け合いの形で歌ったもの。
木の鬚によると元々は[[エルフ]]の歌らしく、[[エルフ語]]で歌われる。木の鬚は二人のために歌詞を[[西方語]]に訳してみせた。

       Beneath the roof of sleeping leaves the dreams of trees unfold;
       When woodland halls are green and cool, and wind is in the West,

ENTWIFE.  When Summer warms the hanging fruit and burns the berry brown;
       When straw is gold, and ear is white, and harvest comes to town;
