* Instance [#name]

フェローシップ（最大6人）やレイド（最大12人または24人）などのプレイヤーグループで遊ぶために設定されたダンジョンや強力な敵がいるステージのうち、''そのグループのために貸切で生成されるコンテンツ''を''インスタンスダンジョン(Instance Dungeon)''、略してインスタンスという。また、生成されたダンジョン等そのものをインスタンスということもある。
-貸切であるので、グループ外のプレイヤーは入ることができない。逆に、誰でも入ることができるタイプをパブリックダンジョン(Public Dungeon)という。
-LotROを含めたオンラインゲームでは、拡張パックや大規模アップデートの導入時に新しいインスタンスダンジョンが追加されることが多い。
-各インスタンスをプレイするためには、拡張パックやクエストパックを購入する必要があったり、フィールド上でそのインスタンスの入り口を発見する必要があったりすることがある。

*** スケーリングインスタンスについて [#lf11c24e]

スケーリングインスタンスは、インスタンスを作るときにレベルが変更可能(Scalable)である。
-インスタンスのレベルを変えると敵のレベルが変わるので、難易度を変えられる（[[Epic Battles]]と違って、自分のレベルは変わらない）。
-一部のインスタンスは最高レベル・最高難易度で作成するとChallenge Questが発生し、これをクリアすると追加報酬がもらえる。

[[Update18>Update/18 The Battle of Pelennor Fields Release Notes]]より、[[Featured Instances>Instance/Featured Instances]]が導入され、毎週変わる特定のインスタンスで特別な報酬が貰えるようになった。

Update22.2からFeatured InstanceをCapレベルのTier2で作成したときにFeatured Challenge(FC)というチャレンジクエストが出現し、完了すると追加の報酬が得られる。

Update24.2から灰色山脈(Grey Mountains)以降のインスタンスにTier4とTier5の難易度が追加された。Tier4以上ではScion（サイオン）という目玉アイコンの新しいバフがついた敵が出現する。インスタンス導入直後はTier2またはTier3までプレイ可能で、数週間ごとにTier4-5が解除されていくことが多い。

** Skirmish [#Skirmish]

Skirmish Soldierを召喚できるインスタンス。プレイするには、大きな町にあるSkirmish Campに行き、チュートリアルを終了させなければならない。
Soldierには以下の種類があり、Skirmish CampのCaptainやTrainerからスキルや特性をMarkなどで購入したあと、Skirmish Captainでスキル・特性を割り当てることで強化できる。

Offensive、Deffensiveでは、マップ中にEncounterという敵がランダムで数体出現し（出現時に青いメッセージが出る）倒すとボーナスが貰える。プレイを繰り返し、ひとつのマップに出現する可能性のあるEncounterを全て倒すとDeedが達成される。一部のEncounterは、マップを戻って出現地点まで倒しに行ったり、敵がマップを通過する（消える）までの間に素早く倒しに行ったりしなければならない。

-Deffensiveは数派に分かれて敵が攻撃してくるので、拠点を守るクエスト。
-Offensiveは自分たちが敵の拠点を攻撃して進んでいくクエスト。
-Survivalは敵が次々現れるので、とにかく生き残るクエスト。

最大LVはプレイ時のCAPLV。
